I pledge to be objective and fair, leaving personal vendettas at home. This includes being unreasonably harsh towards anyone that did not like my own work.

I pledge to break that awful silence and start the conversation.

I pledge to stop talking when my words become repetitive or irrelevant.

I pledge to have a reason behind statements like “it’s nice” or “that’s interesting.”

I pledge to say the hard thing that needs to be said. 

I pledge to ask questions when I don’t understand.

I pledge to act and behave with professionalism.

I pledge to accept criticism with grace, taking responsibility for what I did and did not do.

I will not make excuses.

If we all put forth an effort to speak thoughtfully and honestly, critique will not only be more constructive, but also less painful.
